The Neonatal Encephalopathy Taskforce (NE Taskforce) was brought together by ACC in 2015 to identify initiatives designed to reduce the incidence and severity of Neonatal Encephalopathy cases in New Zealand. One of the initiatives identified was to support the implementation of regular, interdisciplinary fetal heart monitoring education for all healthcare providers involved in intrapartum care. Funding was secured for this in October 2018 and a Working Group is being established to oversee the delivery of the initiative.
To inform the scope and direction of the Working Group and to identify barriers and enablers to accessing education, ACC is running three focus group workshops to gather experience and expertise from end users and those that support and facilitate this education. We are seeking wide but focussed coverage; each workshop has capacity for 20 participants and we would like contributions from the following perspectives:
- LMC midwives
- Core midwives
- Obstetricians (House Surgeons, Registrars, Senior Medical Officers)
- Urban and rural settings
- Primary, secondary and tertiary settings
- Community and clinical units
- Small, medium, large DHBs
- Māori perspective
- Clinical Directors
- Midwifery Leaders
- Service Managers
- Planning and Funding
The workshops will be held on 26th March in Christchurch, 27th March in Wellington, and 28th March in Auckland. If you would like to attend please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
