SUDI Prevention – Train-the-Trainer Programme
Introduction
Over the past six months, we have developed a series of Train-the-Trainer modules to support the revised safe sleep messaging. These modules draw on extensive feedback from both the sector and whānau, providing a clear, practical, and aligned approach to SUDI prevention across Aotearoa.
Aim of Training
To grow and support a network of confident trainers across Aotearoa who can educate and inform their sector, their colleagues, their hapori, and their whānau about SUDI prevention and safe sleep for tamariki in their first year of life.
Who This Training Is For?
These Train-the-Trainer modules are intended for kaimahi, community leaders, educators, health professionals, and anyone who provides guidance, support, or education to whānau about safe sleep.
Not all modules will be relevant for every role or organisation, so recommendations are provided for which modules best suit different sectors.
Module Focus Areas
These modules cover key areas such as:
- Understanding SUDI risks and protective factors, safe and unsafe sleep environments
- Whānau-centred conversations and engagement
- Promoting wider whānau responsibility
