Jennifer is  a registered midwife that has worked predominantly with Māori women and babies in the ADHB region.  After working on the frontline for the past 5 years as a community Māori midwife, Jennifer understands how to connect and engage with wāhine Māori and their whānau.  Jennifer’s strong desire to reduce inequities and improve health outcomes has led her to that of advocating safe sleep practice.  Examples include coordinating the ADHB Pepi-pod pilot programme, chairing the ADHB Safe sleep champions and being a source of SUDI education to well-child providers such as Plunket (ADHB), Starship Community and Tamariki Ora (Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei) and core staff midwives at ADHB.  Previous to this, she has worked as a self-employed midwife and practised acupuncture for eight years.  Jennifer has a Bachelor of Health Science in Midwifery and Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture.  She is currently completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science in Leadership and Management.
