Professor Dr Beverley Anne Lawton (ONZM), Ngāti Porou. Dr Lawton is a primary care doctor working in sexual reproductive health. She Co-founded the Wellington menopause Clinic. She is the Professor of Women’s Health Research and Director at Te Tātai Hauora O Hine, at Victoria University of Wellington with expertise in Kaupapa Mâori research, Randomised Controlled Trials, observational studies and clinical audit. Her research focus is on translational community research to improve women’s health in the areas of maternal and infant health, Human Papilloma Virus , cervical cancer and disparities. She is a member of the NZ Ministry of Health HPV Technical Reference group which is involved with the introduction of HPV testing in NZ which is planned for 2018. She is a member of RANZCOG subcommittee He Hono Wahine and a past member of the National Kaitiaki Group, NZ Peri natal and Maternal Mortality Review Committee and the NZ National Maternal Monitoring Group. Dr Lawton has received multiple grants from the NZ Health Research Council including a Program grant in 2016 .In 2005 she was made an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit by the Queen for her services to women’s health and in 2017 was made a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practice.
